Jacuzzi Suites New Orleans LA
Too many hotels today try to be fancy, or premium, or up scale, but fierce price competition leaves you feeling like you're at the prom. Everything is rented, and low quality and kind of a thin veneer on top of junk.
Drury does not seem to be doing this. They try to be pleasant, instead of fancy, and it works.
Is the breakfast amazingly great food? No. Is it hot, clean, fresh, varied and are the folks preparing polite? Yes.
Is the happy hour a huge buffet of foodie delights? No. It is hot dogs and loaded baked potatoes and chips and salsa, etc. Is the bar fully stocked with top shelf names? No. But you can get beer, wine or a simple mixed drink. Free. Again, hot (or cold as appropriate), clean, fresh and polite.
Coffee, tea and soda available in the lobby all day.
Genuinely free wi-fi without stupid disclaimer log in pages or pass codes.
Free parking.
Our room was spacious, bright (in spite of small, but tall windows) and very clean.
All of the staff were kind, polite and attentive: something that was shockingly untrue of NOLA in general, despite the reputation of Southerners, in general.
Just north of the French Quarter, this Drury is a bit of a walk from all the tourist stuff, but so much cheaper than the Sheraton, Marriott or Hilton that it was an absolute no brainer, and I think we got better service, to boot.
