Nestled in the heart of the Goyt Valley, Magpie Cottages are situated on the banks of the river Goyt and form part of Lower Dale Farm Equestrian Centre. With picturesque walks in all directions you can watch for our King Fisher pair, also observe the birds of prey and the numerous herons from the banks of the river.
Conveniently situated just 2 minutes drive from Rose Hill and Marple Stations for a 20 minute journey to Manchester city centre, and only 30 minutes driving distance from Manchester airport. Edale is just 15 miles away which is in the heart of the Peak District.
Fishermen will find Brown Trout, Grayling and even the occasional Salmon in a stretch of river alongside the cottages. A path (cycle/bridle/foot) meanders along the riverside with a short walk/cycle to a country pub which serves food all day, or for those interested in history link over to Chadkirk Country Estate and Chapel which dates back to the Doomsday book! Here you can also visit our local farm shop and purchase organic, locally produced food and drink.
Alternatively walk around the 100 acre farm and woodland, discover our private bluebell wood or search for the Common Spotted or Northern Marsh Orchids. If you are very lucky you may spot our small herd of fallow deer who inhabit the woodland. Learn to ride, or for the more experienced, book an individual private trek.
Family run, Magpie cottages are a peaceful retreat from busy lives; ideal for walkers, cyclists, fishermen and horse riders or those simply wishing to get away from it all.
